Nestled along the highway into town is Shady Dell Park, a great place to stop, relax, and watch the world go by. It includes covered picnic pavilions, a horseshoe pitching area, Olympic-size pool, tennis courts, lighted baseball field, sand volleyball court, open-air theater and playgrounds for the children. Each summer, the park hosts the Tri-County Fair with activities including a carnival, livestock judging, and contests for kids, craft exhibits, concerts, a truck and tractor pull, and lots of barbeque! Summer festivals also include one of the areas biggest fireworks display on the 3rd of July for our Independence Day celebration with barbeque, music, games for the children and FIREWORKS! In late September we also celebrate Founders Day on September 30th with FOOD, crafts, games for the children, antique tractors, a parade, and FIREWORKS. For the golf enthusiast, Richland has a challenging nine-hole golf course with beautiful grass greens. This is one of our communities greatest assets, and its open to everyone. A few years ago, our golf course was the home of State 1A-2A Champion golfer Brett Alexander. Its location in the center of the Ozarks makes Richland an ideal choice for the outdoorsman. One of Missouri's major waterways, the GasconadeRiver, loops and winds for almost thirty miles through our area. A second major waterway, the Big Pine, running south to north, has been identified as one of the most scenic rivers to float in America. The Roubidoux Creek, also just minutes away, is a fisherman's paradise for Rainbow Trout. Lake of the Ozarks, about 30 minutes north, provides area residents with fine fishing as well as host of other water sports and amusements for young and old alike. Bennet Spring, 30 minutes south, a state park and trout hatchery, also have fine fishing. If you enjoy hunting, our hills and hollows are full of wildlife including deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, dove, quail, raccoon, fox, and coyote. |
